Rethinking and redesigning a community-based website that attracts the younger generation to engage with horticulture.
The Ingatestone and Fryerning Horticultural Society is an Essex based horticultural society which has been running for over 100 years. Their existing website had served them well but was ageing and lacked modern functionality that attracted a younger generation.
Being a not for profit company meant that budget was tight. The new website had to be affordable to create and maintain but also meet a core requirement of attracting a younger audience. SaneChoice was selected to be the lucky designers of the new website. Work soon started on this exciting (but challenging) project.
We worked closely with key members of the IFHS leadership team to understand their desired outcomes. They had a strong sense of history and passion for horticulture – but what was needed was a new design with a modern and engaging twist.
SaneChoice have a standard design approach for all web design projects – Design, Build, Test and Launch. We build websites in an iterative and agile way to ensure that design meets requirements, and speed of delivery is efficient.
The client was keen to have a friendly and local looking website with colours suitable for horticulture – the brief was to avoid a corporate look and feel. Furthermore, there was a considerable amount of information which required an easy to navigate layout. To meet the requirements, we used WordPress with several free plugins to enable ease of maintenance and keep within the budget.
“We worked with SaneChoice on our website revamp to improve engagement. We are very pleased with our new website – both in terms of design and user experience. Quick and efficient service. Thoroughly recommended.”
